Expressive Abstracts

Recently, I've been walking in the canal area of Brussels, where many of the walls are covered in graffiti. I found the bold colours and expressive marks of the graffiti creeping into my own work. I followed my instincts while creating these paintings, and found organic shapes emerging. Some of the shapes looked liked fruits, so I allowed a couple of the paintings to become modern still lives with the feel of graffiti. In "Spirited World" I had enormous fun creating my own weathered notice board by collaging layer upon layer of newspaper and magazine print and then tearing it off again until I had a balanced yet lively design.
