I love taking my camera with me when I walk in the woods. On a trip to New Zealand to visit my son, I played a game of looking for the most interesting way to photograph ferns. The best ones became my fern portraits. However, you don't need to travel to exotic places to take beautiful photos of plants. Some of the photos below were taken at a local garden centre, while others were shot from our bedroom window. It's a question of keeping your eyes open for detail and colour and waiting for the perfect light conditions. I present these images on Hahnemühle William Turner watercolour paper, which is specially adapted for photographs. The paper has a a slightly grainy texture, which complements the subject of these photos well.
